Ask "how much to mount a TV?" and you'll get answers all over the map. That's because "mounting a TV" can mean two very different jobs: hanging a screen on the wall with the cords dangling below it, or a clean install where the power and cables disappear into the wall.
Here's what drives the price, what we charge, and how to tell which job you actually need.
Our prices
| Install | What's included | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Standard mount | Your TV mounted on drywall into the studs, leveled, with cables tidied in a surface raceway. | From $129 |
| Clean install | A new outlet behind the TV and every cable run inside the wall. Nothing hanging below the screen. | From $299 |
| Fireplace, brick or stone | Over the mantel or on masonry, with the right anchors and a viewing height that works for the room. | Priced on site |
Add-ons include soundbar mounting, streaming device and Wi-Fi setup, and a discount on each additional TV in the same visit. If you don't have a mount, we can bring one rated for your TV.
What changes the price
- The wall. Standard drywall over wood studs is the simplest. Brick, stone, plaster and walls with firestops between the studs take more time and different hardware.
- Hiding the wires. Tidying cables in a paintable surface raceway is quick. Moving power and cables inside the wall means adding an outlet behind the TV and fishing cables through the wall, which is most of the difference between a standard mount and a clean install.
- Over the fireplace. The wall material, the heat coming off the fireplace and the viewing height all need checking first, which is why we price it after seeing it.
- Size and weight. Bigger, heavier TVs need a mount rated for them and solid anchoring into the framing.
- Extras. A soundbar, a streaming box, or a second and third TV in the same visit.
Why not just hide an extension cord in the wall?
It's tempting: cut two holes, push an extension cord or power strip through, done. But extension cords and power cords aren't made to run inside walls, and doing it is a fire hazard and against electrical code. The right way is a proper recessed outlet behind the TV, installed to code. Low-voltage cables like HDMI are a different story, and those can be routed through the wall with the right fittings.
Which install do you need?
A standard mount is fine if…
- There's already an outlet near where the TV goes
- A slim cord cover on the wall doesn't bother you
- It's a bedroom, office or basement TV
Go for a clean install if…
- It's the main TV in the living room
- You want nothing showing below the screen
- There's no outlet close to the spot you want
How to get an accurate quote
Most surprises come from the wall, so a little information up front goes a long way. When you ask for a quote, include:
- Your TV size (and model, if you know it)
- What the wall is: drywall, brick, stone, or over a fireplace
- A photo of the wall, including the nearest outlet
- Anything else going up: a soundbar, a streaming box, another TV
- Your town
Most installs take one to three hours, and you'll be watching the same day.
